Artist Patrick Dougherty to Discuss his Willow Sculptures

Internationally renowned artist Patrick Dougherty will present a free talk at the Palo Alto Art Center on November 16, 7 p.m., to discuss his artistic process and vision. Patrick is currently creating a unique willow sculpture on the northeast corner of the Art Center grounds, and invites community members to stop by to view the work-in-progress. He has created more than 200 temporary sculptures around the world using sustainable materials, including the Art Center’s Double Take sculpture which was exhibited from 2011-2016. Dougherty has received numerous awards, including the 2011 Factor Prize for Southern Art, North Carolina Artist Fellowship Award, Pollock-Krasner Foundation Grant, Henry Moore Foundation Fellowship, Japan-US Creative Arts Fellowship, and National Endowment for the Arts Fellowship. Princeton Architectural Press published a major book about Patrick and his work in 2009.
