FINANCIAL STATEMENTS FOR NONPROFITS

 

Understanding how to communicate your nonprofit organization's

story through the financial statements is essential for board members

and management. This session will provide an overview of nonprofit

financial statements, highlight key indicators associated with the

financial health of an organization, and help board members and

management understand how to fulfill your financial fiduciary

responsibility. This session is intended for Board Members,

Executive Directors, Finance and Audit Committees, and CFO's.

Experience

Shannon has over ten years of experience in public accounting

providing audit, review, compilation and consulting services to

nonprofit organizations and local governmental entities under

OMB Circular A-133 and Generally Accepted Government Auditing

Standards (GAGAS).  She has also consulted with clients regarding

strengthening internal controls and compliance with recipients of local

and federal awards.  She has worked with both for profit and nonprofit

entities which have received local, state, and federal funds and require

federal compliance audits.  Her experience includes working with

organizations that provide medical assistance to those with mental

health issues, substance abuse, financial and housing assistance for

low income and at risk veterans, individuals, and families as well as

the physically disable homeless, governmental entities, and

membership organizations.  She also has an additional focus on

providing audit, review, and compilation services for a variety of

small to medium size private businesses in industries including

agriculture, construction, and retail.
