              Midpen Media Center Open House
              Community Celebration & Official Reopening
              Wednesday October 20, 2021

               
              Join Midpen Media Center’s Community Media Week, a joint celebration of Free Speech Week and Community Media Day. We are hosting a variety of events throughout the week of October 16 to celebrate the importance of Free Speech in our country and the vital role that Community Media plays in providing hyper-local media coverage. Events will include free studio workshops, a VIP watch party, and an Open House with tours of our studios and newly reimagined collaborative work spaces. Events include:
               

              • Saturday & Sunday, October 16 & 17: Studio Basics Refresher Course - free for experienced volunteers and producers
              • Wednesday, October 20: Open House will serve as Midpen Media's official reopening and will include food, partner tables, a DJ, and tours of the studio and newly revamped spaces plus equipment demonstrations. The tour will highlight new spaces we have designed for media makers and other creatives to meet and build community, learn new skills, make new friends, and create great work. We are also fortunate that Gallery House of Palo Alto is providing us with new art installations throughout our building
              • Thursday, October 21 we will host a VIP Watch Party showcasing some of our producers’ work
              • Friday, October 22 we will be shooting free PSAs for local nonprofits in our HD studio

              The Tall Tree Awards are given to individuals and organizations that have shown exceptional civic contributions and service to the community. The annual event is sponsored by the    Palo Alto Chamber of Commerce and the Palo Alto Weekly, a Chamber Leaders Circle Member. Nominations are submitted by the general public once a year and awarded in four categories. From time to time, a special Global Impact Award is given to a person or business whose business or professional contributions have been felt around the world.
